FSA-UGA Producer Meetings                                                     Rabinowitz

From October 8-11, FSA and UGA Agricultural Economics will be holding joint producer meetings throughout the state on 3 major government support programs.  This will include disaster assistance, trade assistance, and farm safety net programs.  FSA representatives will discuss program details.  A UGA Agricultural Economist will discuss implications, the producer decision process, and related issues.

Come learn more about the following topics and get answers to your questions!

  1. WHIP+ Disaster Assistance.  The USDA has started signup for the disaster assistance program in response to Hurricane Michael in 2018.  Come learn about program specifics for the Wildfire and Hurricane Indemnity Program Plus (WHIP+) and how this program interacts with crop insurance.  If you suffered agricultural losses from Hurricane Michael then this program is for you.
  2. MFP Trade Assistance. The USDA has started signup for the 2nd year of trade assistance in response to retaliatory tariffs.  Come learn about program specifics for the 2019 Market Facilitation Program (MFP), the current trade situation, and future payment possibilities.    If you produce row crops, milk, pecans, or hogs then this program is for you.
  3. ARC/PLC Farm Bill.  The USDA has started signup for the 2019 marketing year Agriculture Risk Coverage (ARC) and Price Loss Coverage (PLC) programs.  Producers need to make a program decision for each covered commodity for which they have base.  Signup will also start soon for the 2020 marketing year ARC/PLC program. Landowners also will soon be able to make a decision on an optional PLC Yield update.  Come learn about program specifics, decision tools, and how to make a decision on program elections and yield updates.   If you are a producer of row crops on base acres or a landowner with base acres then this program is for you.
