{"id":2542,"date":"2026-05-07T13:39:50","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T17:39:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/tiftcoag\/?p=2542"},"modified":"2026-05-06T13:40:27","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T17:40:27","slug":"valor-and-peanuts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/tiftcoag\/2026\/05\/valor-and-peanuts\/","title":{"rendered":"Valor and Peanuts"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>I have received a few inquiries about Valor applications with the rain we just had.\u00a0 Here are some reminders about Valor after a rain. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Dr. Prostko has been working on this since the dawn of time. Since then, he has no data that proves that when injury occurs, peanut yields are significantly reduced after a labeled\/recommended application (3 oz\/A within 48 hours after planting, at least 1.5&#8243; planting depth).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Valor does not\u00a0affect peanut seed germination and radical development. Recent UGA thermogradient studies indicated that direct peanut seed exposure to Valor at field application rates has\u00a0no\u00a0impact on germination and radicle development (<em>Source: Peanut Science (2020) 47:89-93<\/em>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li> From 2017-2019, Dr. Proskto conducted field trials to evaluate the potential effects of high-moisture conditions on peanut response to Valor. During those trials, peanuts were exposed to 8.0-11.3&#8243; of rainfall\/irrigation in the first 30 DAP. Yields were not\u00a0reduced in any year.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peanuts are most likely to be injured by Valor when:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Higher rates are applied<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Applications are delayed past 48 hours after planting<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Peanuts are planted too shallow<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Heavy rainfall occurs as the peanuts begin to emerge (cracking).\u00a0 <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Irrigation immediately after application will not prevent Valor injury if heavy rainfall occurs at cracking.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>If they get dinged, they will look ugly for a few days, but they&#8217;ll come out of it. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I have received a few inquiries about Valor applications with the rain we just had.\u00a0 Here are some reminders about Valor after a rain.
