{"id":1806,"date":"2021-12-13T16:09:05","date_gmt":"2021-12-13T21:09:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/tiftcoag\/?p=1806"},"modified":"2021-12-13T16:09:06","modified_gmt":"2021-12-13T21:09:06","slug":"2021-peanut-update","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/tiftcoag\/2021\/12\/2021-peanut-update\/","title":{"rendered":"2021 Peanut Update"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Regan and I sat through the agent peanut update last week and here are our notes. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2021 Highlights<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Seed quality was good and we had good emergence.<\/li><li>Good seed quality going into 2022<\/li><li>State average yeild is looking right about 4280lbs\/A<\/li><li>Excessive rain and cooler temps negatively impacted yeild<ul><li>This cause more of root crop and little to no limb crop<\/li><li>Disruption to blooms during August and September were the result<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Tift County estimated:<ul><li>91 rainy days and approximately 30&#8243; of rain<\/li><li>3\u00b0F off of average temperature<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Early May plantings of GA06G and GA18RU have yeilded and graded better than later plantings<\/li><li>Continued to see no benefit of using in furrow fertilizer<\/li><li>Most spiderwort comes up after June 1st so an april\/early may residual will not last.<\/li><li>Chloropyrifos (Lorsban) is gone. All food tolerances for Chloropyrifos has been revoked which means you cant use it anymore. If you have trouble with southern corn rootworms and\/or burrower bug please let me know so we can work out a plan of action. <\/li><li>Prevathon is now Vantacor, same product just a name and rate change. It still works great.<\/li><li>Thrips injury is worst at 28 DAP<\/li><li>There will be a big push for the use of Alicarb (AgLogic) this year. Its a good product and it kills thrips but do know that it does not reduce Tomato Spotted Wilt Virus (TSWV). Only Thimet reduces the risk of TSWV. The peanuts I looked at this year that were treated wiht Thimet were by far the best looking peanuts. <\/li><li>Drought during early pod develpment (40-60 DAP) is bad for the plant and yeild. <\/li><li>Thimet and Velum can give added benefit of leaf spot control<\/li><li>Fungicides are likely to increase<\/li><li>Could be tight supply:<ul><li>Tebuconazole<\/li><li>Azoxystrobin<\/li><li>Proysol<\/li><li>Priaxor<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Peanut acres are likely to increase.
