After keeping an eye on the weather, it looks like we are anticipating a freeze Monday and Tuesday of next week. While there are a few things to consider, the major concern is cotton, particularly late planted cotton, that still has unopened bolls. If you have not yet defoliated cotton, you need to get on a sprayer and cover as much ground as you can in the next two days. The weather that is currently forecasted will cause the green bolls left in the plant not to open if they are not sprayed two to three days ahead of time.

Max out the prep if you have bolls to open. Business as usual for getting leaves off for the next couple of days. After this freeze we’ll have to evaluate where we are and what to do if it wasn’t sprayed ahead of time.

Again – I strongly encourage you to spray what you can over the next two days, particularly the cotton that has bolls to open.
