I just discovered this commentary from Bob Kemerait, Professor and Extension Specialist in the UGA Dept. of Plant Pathology. Titled “When being ‘tough’ may be too much”, he eloquently talks about how tough and stoic farmers are, and how sometimes that gets in the way of asking for help when you really need it. As he says “Knowing when to ask for help and the willingness to accept help are not signs of weakness; they are signs of strength.\u00a0” I join my voice with Bob’s in asking anyone who is struggling with depression or thoughts of suicide to reach out for help. Please remember the phone number 988–the National Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. You are the most important asset of your farm, and you cannot be replaced!<\/p>\n\n\n\n
