I often write an article in the late summer early fall since growers are moving large equipment all over middle Georgia. Well, I wanted to go ahead and put it out there now for 2 reasons.

The first reason is because the rain has kept many of you out of the field, and we are trying to get land prepared and corn planted. This means there will be large planters and tillage equipment on the highways.

Secondly, and more importantly, is a huge yard sale that is going on starting today. Yes, Peaches to Beaches, is a yard sale that stretches from Barnesville to Jekyll Island. This years event will mean thousands of slow moving, rubbernecking, trailer hauling yard salers all up and down highway 341.

Official Vendors will be well marked and are close to the major thoroughfare. However many bootleg sites pop up due to the huge crowds. I know it will be tempting to stop and have a look at what is available for in your area. Just remember that antique hutch isn’t going to fit in the cab of your 8320!

Seriously, as you are out and about this weekend take extra care if you are near this major artery. We will have thousands of additional people in the area and I am sure many of them will not be familiar with farming and farm equipment.
