  1. Scrape carefully, using a dull knife or spatula, to remove the excess paste. Take care not to force the soil deeper into the pile of the carpet. Mix 1 teaspoon of a mild, dishwashing detergent in 1 cup of warm water. Sponge the stain and rinse with clear, cool water. Blot thoroughly to remove excess moisture. Rub hand across carpet (against the nap) to set the pile. Allow to dry thoroughly.
  2. If any stain remains, spray stain with a general household cleaner such as 409 or Fantastic. Agitate using a cloth or an old toothbrush. Blot up loosened stain. Sponge with clear water. Blot thoroughly and set pile (as described in Method #1).

CAUTIONS:

  • Always pretest each cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area first to determine colorfastness.
  • When using caustic, toxic, aromatic or flammable cleaning solutions, be certain to provide for adequate ventilation. Do not have an open flame near flammable cleaning solutions. Wear rubber gloves.
  • Do not use lacquer thinner or acetone on acetate or triacetate carpets and fabrics. They will turn to froth immediately.
