Remove Stains From Soup

Meat Base

Soak in a solution of 1 quart warm water, 1/2 teaspoon liquid hand dishwashing detergent and 1 tablespoon ammonia for 15 minutes. Tamp or use a spoon. Blot occasionally. Continue as long as stain is being removed. Rinse with water being sure to remove all ammonia. Soak in a solution of 1 quart warm water and 1 tablespoon sodium perborate bleach for 30 minutes. Wash. Repeat soaking in sodium perborate bleach and warm water and wash again.

Vegetable Base

Sponge with a commercial cleaner. Cover with a pad of absorbent material dampened with a commercial cleaner. Keep moistened and change pad as it picks up stain. Let stand as long as stain is being picked up. Flush with a commercial cleaner. Repeat until no more stain is removed. Allow to dry completely. Sponge with water. Apply a few drops of liquid hand dishwashing detergent and a few drops of ammonia. Cover with absorbent pad dampened with water and let stand as long as stain is being removed. Change pad as it picks up stain and keep stain moistened with liquid hand detergent and ammonia. Flush with water being sure to remove all ammonia. Soak in a solution of 1 quart warm water and 1 tablespoon enzyme pre-wash for 30 minutes. Rinse with water. Bleaching with type safe for fabric may remove final traces of stain.

Carpet

Synthetic Fibers, Wool

Meat Base, Vegetable Base

  1. Blot up as much of the spill as quickly as possible, then sponge the area with cool water. Blot thoroughly. This should remove any stain.
  2. If stain remains, spray stain with a combination solvent such as Shout or Spray ‘n Wash. Agitate, using fingertips or an old toothbrush with soft bristles. Blot to remove the loosened stain. Sponge with clear water. Make sure all of the cleaning solution is removed. Blot thoroughly. Place 112 inch thick absorbent pad over the area and weight it down with books. Let stand 4-8 hours. Remove pads and books. Set pile by running hand over carpet (against the nap) and allow to dry.
  3. If any greasy stain remains, sponge with Naphtha, K2R, Greased Lightning, etc. Read and follow directions printed on product.

  • When using caustic, toxic, aromatic or flammable cleaning solutions, be certain to provide for adequate ventilation. Do not have an open flame near flammable cleaning solutions. Wear rubber gloves.
  • When using solvent-based cleaners on carpet or upholstery, be careful not to overwet the carpet or the fabric. Solvents can destroy the carpet backing and foam padding used in upholstery.

Upholstered Furniture

Blended Fibers, Fiberglass, Natural Fibers, Synthetic, Fibers, Wool

Meat Base, Vegetable Base

  1. Blot excess quickly using paper towels or an absorbent cloth. Sponge the stain with cool water. Blot thoroughly. If the stain is fresh, this should remove it.
  2. Make a solution of 1 part glycerin, 1 part white dishwashing detergent and 8 parts water. Add a few drops of ammonia and shake well. Dampen an absorbent pad with the solution and place on stain. Occasionally add pressure to pad with hand, then check to see if any stain is being lifted. Sponge with cool water, making sure to remove all traces of the ammonia. Blot thoroughly and allow to dry quickly.
  3. If any stain remains, use a commercial spot cleaner. Read and follow directions printed on product. Leave in place and keep moist until all stain is lifted. Occasionally, apply pressure to the pad, checking to see if stain is being picked up. If so, rotate folded pad always keeping a clean section of the pad next to stain When all stain is Pfted, sponge with a cleaner such as Greased Lightning, Resolve, etc. Read and follow directions printed on product. Blot thoroughly to remove excess moisture and allow to dry quickly.
