Remove Stains From Fruits, Red Vegetables, Jam/Jelly/Preserves

Apparel/Fabrics

  1. Rinse fresh stains promptly with cool water. Do not use soap on fruit stains. It will set the stain.
  2. Soak in warm water and sodium perborate bleach for 15-30 minutes. Launder using a heavy-duty detergent and water.
  3. Soak in a solution of 1 quart warm water, 1/2 teaspoon liquid hand dishwashing detergent, and 1 tablespoon white vinegar for 15 minutes. Rinse with water. Sponge with alcohol. Wash. Soak in 1 quart warm water and 1 tablespoon sodium perborate bleach for 30 minutes. Wash.

Carpet

Blended Fibers, Hemp, Jute, Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Wool

  1. Mix 1 teaspoon of a neutral detergent (a mild detergent containing no alkalies or bleaches) with 1 cup of lukewarm water. Apply mixture to a clean white cloth. Blot stain. Dampen a clean white cloth with white household vinegar. Blot the stain. Repeat with the detergent and water solution and blot. Sponge the stain with clean water. Blot well, removing all excess moisture.
  2. If stain persists, spray it lightly with a laundry pre-soak product. Cover the stain with a pad moistened with the pre-wash solution. Let it stand for 10-15 minutes, adding more solution if needed to keep the pad moist. Do not allow the wet area to spread. When no more stain is evident, sponge with clear water and blot well with an absorbent cloth, removing all excess moisture. Before carpet dries, set the pile by running your hand over carpet (moving against the nap). Allow to dry thoroughly.
  3. If stain still persists, make a potion using the following recipe. Wear rubber gloves while preparing solution. 2 tablespoons oxal ic acid (purchase at hardware store) 1 tablespoon white vinegar 8 tablespoons glycerin (purchase at drug store) Butyl alcohol (purchase at drug store) Mix oxalic acid and white vinegar. Add the glycerin and stir. Continue stirring while adding enough butyl alcohol to make the mixture clear. Apply this potion to the stain. Leave in place FOR A FEW MINUTES ONLY. Blot up the potion with clean cloths. Flush with water and re-blot.

  • When using solvent-based cleaners on carpet or upholstery, be careful not to overwet the carpet or the fabric. Solvents can destroy the carpet backing and foam padding used in upholstery.
  • Vinegar should be diluted with 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar .if used on cotton or linen.

Hard Surface Floors

Marble

Fruit juices will etch (remove shiny surface) from marble if allowed to remain for any time.

  1. Wipe up stain immediately with a sponge dipped in warm sudsy water. Sponge with clear water and wipe dry.
  2. If any stain or discoloration remains, mix a poultice or paste of water, powdered detergent and chlorine bleach. Apply the thick paste to the stain and cover with a damp cloth to retard evaporation. When the stain has been bleached out, rinse thoroughly and dry.

NOTE: If surface is etched, polishing may be required.

  2. If stain persists, rub the stain with a cloth dampened in a solution of 1 tablespoon oxalic acid (available at drug and hardware stores) and 1 pint of water. Sponge with clear water and allow to dry.

Terrazzo

  1. Wipe up stain immediately with a sponge dipped in a solution of powdered detergent and warm water. Sponge with clear water and wipe dry.
  2. If rough spots. occur from the cleaning, rub with powdered pumice stone under a block of wood.

Wood

  1. Mix dishwashing detergent in hot water and swish to make a great volume of suds. Dip a cloth only the foam and apply to the stain. Rinse with clean cloth dampened with clear water. Dry thoroughly. If stain is removed, wax or polish as soon as possible.
  2. If any stain remains, rub the area with a cloth dampened in a solution of 1 tablespoon of oxalic acid to 1 pint water. Rinse well and wipe dry. Wax or polish as soon as surface is dry.

Plastic Laminents

  1. Wipe up the excess spill. Rub with a cloth dampened in a solution of detergent and water. Sponge with clear water.
  2. To remove stubborn stains, pour rubbing alcohol on the area and spread with your hand. Let stand 1 minute and then apply chlorine bleach directly to the stain and let stand 1 minute. Rinse with clear water.
  3. If stain persists, make a solution of equal parts of white vinegar and water. Apply to stain for 1 minute and then rinse.

Wood

  1. Mix dishwashing detergent in hot water and swish to make a great volume of suds. Dip a cloth in only the foam and apply to the stain. Rinse with clean cloth dampened with clear water. Dry thoroughly. If stain is removed, wax or polish as soon as possible.

  • Overwetting with water may cause the finish on the upholstery fabric to migrate and thus leave a circle in the treated area. • Vinegar should be diluted with 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar if used on cotton or linen.

Wipe up the excess spill. Rub with a cloth dampened in a solution of detergent and water. Sponge with clear water.

Metals

Aluminum, Stainless Steel

Wipe up the excess spill. Rub with a cloth dampened in a solution of detergent and water. Sponge with clear water.

Other/interior

Acrylic Plastic, Ceramic Glass, Enamel, Glass

Wipe up the excess spill. Rub with a cloth dampened in a solution of detergent and water. Sponge with clear water.

Kitchen/bathroom Cabinets (Laminates)

  1. Wipe up the excess spill. Rub with a cloth dampened in a solution of detergent and water. Sponge with clear water.
