Remove Stains From Coffee, Tea

Apparel/Fabrics

  1. Sponge or rinse stain promptly in cool water. Pre-treat by soaking with laundry detergent containing enzymes, or rubbing with a liquid heavy-duty detergent or paste of granular laundry detergent and water. Launder using chlorine bleach, if safe for fabric. Otherwise, use oxygen or sodium perborate bleach.
  2. Soak in a solution of 1 quart warm water, 1/2 teaspoon dishwashing liquid detergent, and 1 tablespoon white vinegar for 15 minutes. Rinse. Launder. Use chlorine, oxygen or sodium perborate bleach to remove final stain, if safe for fabric.

Carpet

Blended Fibers, Hemp, Jute, Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Wool (Coffee Or Tea Without Cream And/or Sugar)

  1. Blot excess liquid with a clean, white absorbent material such as tissues, paper towels or napkins. Mix 1 teaspoon of a neutral detergent (a mild detergent containing no alkalies or bleaches) with 1 cup of lukewarm water. Work small amounts of the solution into the pile with your fingers. Blot. Flush with water to rinse. Blot again. Mix 1/3 cup of white household vinegar with 2/3 cups of water. Blot the st using a clean absorbent cloth dampened with the vinegar solution. Sponge with clear water. Blot agail Place a 1/2 inch layer of dry absorbent material (cloths or paper towels) over the area and weight it down with a book. If the absorbent material becomes wet, replace it with dry absorbent material. Leave it for several hours. Then brush area with hand to restore pi Ie.
  2. Tanning stains are difficult to treat. Make a potion using the following recipe. Wear rubber gloves while preparing solution.
  3. 2 tablespoons oxal ic acid (purchase at hardware stone)
  4. 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  5. 8 tablespoons glycerin (purchase at drug store)
  6. Butyl alcohol (purchase at drug store)

Mix oxalic acid and white vinegar. Add the glycerin and stir. Continue stirring while adding enough butyl alcohol to make the mixture clear. Apply this potion to the stain. Leave in place FOR A FEW MINUTES ONLY. Blot up the potion with clean cloths. Flush with water and re-blot.

Hard Surface Floors

Brick, Concrete, Resilient, Stone/masonry (Except Marble), Tile

Mix a solution of Washing (Sal) Soda or a laundry detergent (not soap) in water. Gently brush stain away using a soft bristle brush. Wash with clear water and allow to dry. If coffee or tea contained cream, this solution should remove all greasy-residue.or stain.

NOTE: When using Washing Soda, follow directions and cautions on container label.

Soak a white blotter (made from a folded cloth or paper towels) with the solution and place it over the stain. Cover it with a piece of glass or other heavy object. Continue applying the solution until the oil has been drawn out and any remaining stain is bleached out.

  1. Clean the stain by washing it in warm sudsy water. Rinse well and wipe it dry.
  2. To remove old coffee or tea stains, dip a soft damp cloth into baking soda and wipe any remaining stain. Rinse well and dry.
