Remove Stains From Candy (Non-chocolate)

Apparel/Fabric

  1. Sponge stain promptly with cool water. Or soak stain in cool water for 30 minutes or more. Work undiluted liquid detergent into stain and rinse. If stain remains, use a bleach safe for fabric.
  2. Following directions on label, dampen the stained area with a commercial pre-wash spot and stain remover. Apply a paste of sodium perborate bleach and water to the area. Wash in warm to hot water using a heavy-duty detergent.

CAUTIONS:

  • Always read your care label before trying any stain removal method. Do not use any products or procedures prohibited by the care label.
  • Always pretest each cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area first to determine colorfastness.
  • Be sure to store and dispose of products/cans/containers as recommended. Keep out of reach of children.
  • When using caustic or commercial cleaning solutions, be certain to provide for adequate ventilation.

Carpet

Blended Fibers, Hemp, Jute, Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Wool

  1. Scrape to remove as much of the excess as possible.
  2. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of a white dishwashing detergent in 1 cup water. Sponge the stain until all soil is removed. Sponge with clear water and blot thoroughly. Make a Wet Spotter by mixing one part glycerin, one part white dishwashing detergent and 8 parts water. Apply the Wet Spotter to a sponge and add a few drops of white vinegar. Let it stand as long as stain is being removed. Then flush with water. Blot up excess water. Weight down a stack of absorbent cloths and leave in place until all moisture is absorbed from the pile. Remove, brush pile lightly and allow to dry.
  3. If any stain remains, apply alcohol to an absorbent cloth and sponge the stain. Blot thoroughly and allow to dry.

CAUTIONS:

  • Always pretest each cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area first to determine colorfastness.
  • Alcohol will damage acetate, triacetate, modacrylics and acrylic fibers. Dilute with 2 parts water on acetate.
  • Vinegar should be diluted with 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar if used on cotton or linen.

Hard Surface Floors

Brick, Concrete, Stone/masonry

Scrape gently to remove excess soil. Wash or scrub any remainder with a solution of detergent and water. Rinse well and wipe dry.

NOTE: Do not use soap. It leaves a scum impossible to remove.

Resilient (Asphalt, Cork, Linoleum, Vinyl), Tile (Ceramic)

Scrape gently to remove excess soil. Dip a cloth in warm sudsy water and wipe stain from surface. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.

Wood (Oiled, Stained, Varnished, Painted, Polyurethane, Waxed)

Dip a cloth in warm, mild sudsy water. Wring out almost dry and wipe the stain. Rinse with a clean damp cloth. Wipe dry and polish or wax as needed.

Furniture

Aluminum, Bamboo, Cane, Fiberglass, Lucite, Marble, Plastic, Vinyl

Using a rubber spatula, gently scrape to remove excess soil. Dip a cloth in warm sudsy water and wipe up rest of stain. Rinse thoroughly and wipe dry.

Wood

Wipe the stain with a cloth that has been dipped in warm, mild sudsy water and then wrung almost dl). Rinse with a clean damp cloth. Wipe dry and polish or wax as needed.

Upholstered Furniture

Blended Fibers, Fiberglass, Leather, Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Vinyl, Vinyl Coated, Wool

  1. Gently scrape away excess soil, using a piece of cardboard, plastic spatula or dull knife.
  2. Make a solution of 1/2 teaspoon white dishwashing detergent and 1 cup lukewarm water. Apply to an absorbent cloth and sponge the stain, taking care not to overwet the fabric. Blot. Sponge with cool, clear water and blot thoroughly again. Allow to dry.
  3. If stain remains, make a Wet Spotter (combine 1 part glycerin, 1 part white dishwashing detergent and 8 parts water; shake well). To the Wet Spotter add a few drops of white vinegar. Apply the Wet Spotter to a cotton ball and place on stain, letting it remain as long as any stain is being removed. Press down on the stain every 5 minutes with an absorbent cloth. When all stain is removed, flush with clear water. Blot thoroughly and allow to dry.

CAUTIONS:

  • Always pretest each cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area first to determine colorfastness.
  • Overwetting with water may cause the finish on the upholstery fabric to migrate and thus leave a circle in the treated area.
  • Vinegar should be diluted with 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar if used on cotton or linen.
