  2. If the stain remains, sponge using a commercial carpet cleaner such as Resolve or K2R. Follow directions on the product label.

CAUTIONS:

  • Always pretest each cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area first to determine colorfastness.
  • When using caustic, toxic, aromatic or flammable cleaning solutions, be certain to provide for adequate ventilation. Do not have an open flame near flammable cleaning solutions. Wear rubber gloves.
  • Ammonia damages silk and wool. If you must use on these fibers, dilute with equal amounts of water and use sparingly.

Hard Surface Floors

Brick, Concrete, Resilient, Stone/masonry, Tile, Wood

Wood

The type of material and finish applied on the surface determine what can be safely used to clean a piece of furniture. Some can be cleaned with a mild detergent (hand washing liquid) and water. Other finishes may be damaged by water and detergent. Some finishes should be cleaned by solvent-based waxes and polishes. Abrasives (powders and scouring pads) will damage wood unless specifically recommended.

  1. Immediately wipe excess liquid or matter with an absorbent cloth or sponge. Then buff cleaned area using a clean cloth until the luster returns.
  2. If I uster does not return, follow with a coat of wood cleaner. Saturate a fresh clean cloth and clean about a square foot at a time. Quickly wipe the cleaner off with a second clean cloth. This will remove the old wax and dirt. After cleaning, reapply a furniture wax and buff to a shine.

NOTE: You can make a wood cleaner by combining 1 part gum turpentine with 3 parts of boiled linseed oil.

CAUTIONS:

  • Be careful any time a commercial product or combination of cleaning supplies are used.
  • When using caustic, toxic, aromatic or flammable cleaning solutions, be certain to provide for adequate ventilation. Do not have an open flame near flammable cleaning solutions. Wear rubber gloves.
