Remove Stains From Artificial Fruit Flavored Drink (Kool-Aid)

Apparel/Fabric

Flush stain, using cold water, to remove as much color residue as possible. Spray stained area with a commercial pre-wash spot and stain remover. Allow to stand 15 minutes. Flush with cold water. Apply a heavy duty liquid detergent to stain, allowing it to stand 5 minutes. Flush with cold water.

To remove remaining traces of color, re-apply pre-wash to stain and cover with a paste of sodium perborate bleach for 15 minutes. Flush with cold water. Re-apply pre-wash and sodium perborate bleach to remove last traces of color. Launder in warm water using heavy duty liquid detergent and sodium perborate bleach.

  • Always read the care label before trying any stain removal method. Do not use any products or procedures prohibited by the care label.
  • Always pretest each cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area first to determine colorfastness.
  • Be sure to store and dispose of products/cans/containers as recommended. Keep out of reach of children.
  • When using caustic or commercial cleaning solutions, be certain to provide for adequate ventilation.

Carpet

Blended Fibers, Fur, Hemp, Jute, Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Wool

Act quickly in order to prevent a permanent stain.

  1. Blot up excess spill being careful not to spread the stain. Sponge with cool, clear water. Blot. Spray with a commercial household cleaner such as 409 or Fantastic. Agitate, using your fingers or a soft-bristled toothbrush. Blot to pick up stain that is being removed, rotating the cloth in order to place a clean area next to stain.
  2. If stain remains, but none is being picked up, you can apply more liquid cleaner. Agitate and blot. Sponge with clear water and blot thoroughly to remove excess moisture. Rub hand across carpet (against the nap) to set the pile. Allow to dry.

NOTE: Stains from ·artificial fruit flavored drinks are difficult to remove. You may have to live with a faint tinge of the color of the drink in your carpet. None of our testing totally removed the stain. If your children drink such beverages, we suggest you keep them off carpeted surfaces when drinking.

Upholstered Furniture

Blended Fibers, Fiberglass, Natural Fibers, Synthetic Fibers, Vinyl

Act quickly. Blot excessive spill, using paper towels or a clean absorbent cloth. Be careful not to spread the stain. Sponge with cool, clear water. Blot. Mix 1/2 teaspoon of a white dishwashing detergent in 1 cup warm water. Dampen a cloth with this solution. Apply a few drops of white vinegar to the sponge and dab at the stain. To another dampened sponge (using the same sudsy water) apply a few drops of ammonia. Dab at the stain, rotating the cloth as stain is being picked up, always keeping a clean section of cloth next to the stain. When no more stain is being removed, sponge with clear water to remove all traces of detergent, vinegar and ammonia. Blot thoroughly and allow to dry.

NOTE: Stains from artificial flavored drinks are difficult to remove, particularly from upholstered and carpeted surfaces. You may have to live with a faint tinge of the color of the drink in your fabric.

CAUTIONS:

  • Always pretest each cleaning agent on an inconspicuous area first to determine colorfastness.
  • Overwetting with water may cause the finish on the upholstery fabric to migrate and thus leave a circle in the treated area.
  • Ammonia damages silk and wool. If you must use on these fibers, dilute with equal amounts of water and use sparingly.
  • Vinegar should be diluted with 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar if used on cotton or linen.

Walls And Ceilings

Dry Walugypsum Board, Glass, Mirror, Plaster, Tile, Wood, Paneling

  1. Wipe up excess spill immediately. Sponge with clean, cool water.
  2. If a stain remains, spray lightly with a commercial household cleaner such as 409 or Fantastic. Wipe with a sponge dipped in clear water and dry with a clean cloth.

Paper

  1. Wipe up excess spill immediately. Wet a cloth in cool, clear water. Wring almost dry then wipe stain, using overlapping strokes.
  2. Mix 1 teaspoon of a white dishwashing detergent in 1 quart warm water. Add a few drops of white vinegar. Wet a cloth in this solution, wring almost dry. Wipe the stained area, using overlapping strokes.
  3. Rinse, using a cloth dampened with clear water. Pat dry using a clean, soft cloth.

Exterior Surfaces

Porches, Decks, Patios – Asphalt, Brick, Concrete, Cement, Masonry, Stone, Wood

Blot up excess spill immediately. Sponge with clear water. If any stain remains, spray with a household cleaner such as 409 or Fantastic. Sponge, then rinse thoroughly and allow to dry.
