As February brings signs of an early Spring, Tattnall County Extension and 4-H are gearing up to kick off their annual tree and plant sale fundraiser to help support 4-H youth programming throughout the year. The sale has grown rapidly since its beginning in 2017, with over 500 plants being sold last year.

For the past few years, flowering plants and shrubs such as tea olives, gardenia, and forsythia have been top sellers. These will be available again this year, as well as crepe myrtles, knockout roses, camellias, abelias and more.

Fruit bearing trees and plants are also a big seller for the annual event. These will be available again this year, including several varieties of blueberries, blackberries, apples, figs, peaches and muscadines.

For customers wishing to do some landscaping in their yards, there are several choices including lorapetalums, sky pencil holly, and Confederate jasmine. Some larger trees such as tulip poplar, arborvitae, Leyland cypress, dogwood, and magnolia will also be available.

All trees, plants and shrubs must be preordered through the Tattnall County Extension Office in Reidsville no later than February 25. All payments must be made at time of order by check or cash. Orders will be available for pickup at the Tattnall County High School Livestock Barn on March 8th from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
