A Pecan Tree Insurance Program has been officially approved and implemented by the USDA Risk Management Agency and will be available to growers starting with the 2018 crop year, which begins on July 1, 2017. Growers have been able to insure their pecan crop for several years and now they can also insure their trees to protect them from losses incurred in situation like we have seen with the recent storms.

Visit the United States Department of Agriculture Risk Management Agency (USDA RMA) website by clicking on the link here to learn more about the program.  Reminder: Interested growers will need to visit with their crop insurance agents before the May 15th, 2017 sales closing date if they wish to participate in the program for the upcoming crop year
