{"id":783,"date":"2017-10-03T15:21:28","date_gmt":"2017-10-03T19:21:28","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/peaches\/?p=783"},"modified":"2017-10-03T15:21:28","modified_gmt":"2017-10-03T19:21:28","slug":"phony-peach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/peaches\/2017\/10\/phony-peach\/","title":{"rendered":"Phony Peach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Based on observations at the Byron USDA station (pathology blocks) and Fort Valley State (Jeff Cook orchards), phony peach appears to be increasing in importance (see photos below; short, squat trees are phony peach trees).\u00a0 I suspect this could be related to two really warm consecutive winters, increased vector numbers (sharpshooters), and less insecticide applications to non-productive orchards.\u00a0 I also suspect that commercial producers are seeing the same.
