The hard work of our Extension office staff, volunteers, and youth participants was brought to light in many ways this week around our county and state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

AmeriCorps Recognition by BOC:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Monday night Oglethorpe Board of Commissioners Chairman, Jay Paul, read a proclamation designating the week of March 12-18, 2023, as AmeriCorps Week in Oglethorpe County. The proclamation urges citizens to thank AmeriCorps members and alumni and AmeriCorps Seniors volunteers for their service and to find their own ways to give back to their communities. Amber Waldrup is the AmeriCorps volunteer serving Oglethorpe County 4-H. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Horse Quiz Bowl at the BOE:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The next evening at the Oglethorpe County Board of Education meeting, board members learned about the 4-H Horse Quiz Bowl’s recent state win and recognized their dedication and excellence. BOE Chair, Becky Soto, presented each team member with a certificate. Georgia Cattlemen Name County Agent of the Year:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

On Thursday at the annual convention of the Georgia Cattlemen’s Association, Shanna Reynolds was named County Agent of the Year for 2022. The organizations website states “GCA\u2019s long standing partnership with Georgia Cooperative Extension has allowed our association to continue to provide updated, credible resources to cattle producers throughout the state. The County Agent of the Year award recognizes the outstanding county extension agents that go above the call of duty in the support of their local cattlemen\u2019s Associations.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
