For this contest, participants develop a recipe using ingredients commonly found in food banks.&nbsp; Senior participants with the top 16 entries are invited to compete in a live competition at the Georgia National Fair, conditions permitting.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This event is a great way to introduce youth to the concepts of food access, food security, and service, as well as nutrition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Contest Goals:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. Raise awareness about poverty and hunger in Georgia.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>2. Challenge 4-H\u2019ers to think creatively about food and cooking by developing recipes using ingredients commonly found in Georgia Food Banks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>3. Educate 4-H\u2019ers about the cost of food, and what it takes to feed a family.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>4. Provide youth and families across Georgia with a \u201crecipe bank\u201d for inexpensive, nutritious meals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Please see Event Registration and Event Downloads for complete contest information.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Please note that the deadline for the&nbsp;<\/em><strong><em>SENIOR<\/em><\/strong><em>&nbsp;entries is earlier than for Cloverleaf and Junior entries.
