Until now, Ready in the Middle has been offered only in Mississippi. However, with the continued impact of COVID-19, many practitioners and educators are looking for engaging programs that can be delivered virtually. Additionally, as the content and activity is still quite relevant to older teens, we are announcing an age extension. The program can now be offered to youth ages 10 through 19.

Ready in the Middle, considered less intensive when compared to the teen-centric MyPI, is designed around a comprehensive Home Hazard Hunt and Emergency Preparedness Activity, in which the participants enlist the assistance of parents/guardians to identify risks and hazards in and around the home and to develop/discuss mitigation strategies to prevent these risks and hazards as well as to prepare for emergencies.

Manuals, delivery strategies, and evaluation components for delivery of Ready in the Middle will be made available for those who wish to become instructors and deliver the program. To become a certified instructor, please register for the first virtual Instructor Certification and Training Workshop to be held at 1:00 pm Central Standard Time on Thursday, June 25th. The webinar will last approximately 75 minutes with a Q&A session at the end. Registration is now open through the following link:

https://msstateextension.zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_Y5buRKwUT-OLS2NP7gk1FQ

Questions:

Please direct any questions to Dr. C.
