Our goal is to teach teens about the club’s history while showing them how 4-H can open up many doors for teens today. Georgia 4-H state staff wrote a fun introduction to 4-H lesson years ago that is still being used today that highlights 4-H through sports. Laura Goss has also worked on a new introduction to 4-H lesson that is perfect for youth in grades 4th-6th that is interactive and ideal for after school clubs.

Science Lessons:

Kasey Bozeman, State 4-H Specialist, has created several science lessons that are fun and educational. One lesson teaches about DNA through strawberries! A lesson that includes food is almost always a winner in my book!

Outdoor Cooking Lesson:

Bases are busy in the summertime hosting teens for various camps onsite and offsite. Consider hosting a 4-H Camp that includes food and healthy living. Several 4-H programs such as Oregon have a 4-H Outdoor Cooking Lessons that include cooking over a fire, cooking with charcoal, kebab cooking, and even tin can cooking! Lesson plans range from providing recipes to diving into the science behind the different styles of cooking.

How to get the Resources:

Email Laura to receive this FREE resource and help make your next Introduction to 4-H lesson one to remember!

As part of the Military 4-H Partnership base staff have access to 4-H curriculum through your in-house curriculum, State 4-H Curriculum, and staff can choose to order additional resources through the National 4-H website.
