Coordinated by the Association of Fish & Wildlife Agencies (AFWA), the Conservation Education Conference on Virtual Learning is a great professional development opportunity from the comfort of your office.  Meet informal educators from around the nation as the discussion centers on virtual learning and engagement.  While the focus will be around environmental/science/outdoor topics, the information presented could likely be applied to any content area.

The virtual conference will be held March 2-4, 2021 from 1:00-4:00 pm ET.  Registration is $25/person and includes access to two keynote addresses and all concurrent sessions.  More information and registration can be found at: https://www.fishwildlife.org/projectwild/ConEd2021.

How does this apply to Installation Staff? While much of the work on-base is still being done face-to-face many centers are still unable to meet with high school teens. Perhaps engaging in conversation with other experienced professionals will provide staff with the knowledge and tools to try some new online activities to reach teens. Addiotnaly, what I love is learning these tools now can help you prepare to create partnership events with other bases or off-base youth programs. Youth love to meet each other, so how about creating a virtual event with a local 4-H club or another installation teen program. The youth can engage together and learn together through some engaging resources. Wouldn’t it be neat if Moody AFB teens did a joint event with Kings Bay teens? If you would like to explore this idea further please let me know or simply reach out to those with who you would like to partner. Lastly, the tools through this conference can be used on-base too to make for an engaging face-to-face instruction time too.
