UGA Marine Extension is offering its annual Youth Ocean Conservation Summit (YOCS) as a free virtual event this spring.  YOCS is a program for current middle and high school students that will be March 20 (from 10:00am-3:00pm) and March 21 (from 1:00pm-3:30pm).

This event will allow participants to:

  • Learn about ocean conservation topics.
  • Find out about citizen science efforts that help keep our oceans healthy.
  • Develop community project plans concerning ocean conservation.
  • Attend skill-building workshops on science communication, marine fisheries population dynamics and marine megafauna research.
  • Connect and network with other interested students and professionals.

Information about the YOCS is found here: https://gacoast.uga.edu/education/schools-and-groups/youth-ocean-conservation-summit/.

Registration is free, but participation is limited to 50 students on a first-come, first-serve basis.  Questions can be directed to fish@uga.edu
