Let’s support our amazing Veterans!

A major piece of 4-H is volunteering. Volunteering is a major aspect of 4-H, because it is our time to teach youth how to be contributing citizens and to support their community. There are many great ways we can conduct community service projects at home, in our youth centers, schools, and in our local 4-H clubs.

Sara Gardner, Arkansas 4-H Alumnae, highlights volunteer opportunities that are targeted to support veterans. You can learn more about Sara’s cause at pledgetopatriotism.weebly.com and/or watch a short video demonstration that highlights veteran volunteer opportunities.

Many of us are continuing to either be closed for face-to-face projects or partially open. Consider what virtual program you can include that promotes community service and possibly is targeted to support veterans.

We would love to hear what you all offer and how it goes! Feel free to send us pictures, stories, news articles, and the like to laurwalt@uga.edu. Also, if you need help in exploring how to offer a virtual community service project contact me and I am always happy to help.

To access the video go to the 4-H Military Partners website that showcases several great recorded sessions. The video highlighting Pledge to Patriotism is the 1st recorded session on the right hand-side of the page.

Stay tuned for other great highlights from the Military Partners Conference. It was a great time of idea sharing, resource building, staff development, and of course a chance to remember the WHY behind what we do.
