There’s something exciting that’s been added to the International Master Gardener Conference website<\/a>! \u00a0So many have been asking when Search for Excellence (SFE) would be posted… the answer is NOW! \u00a0Use the links below to read all about SFE and how your group project can qualify. \u00a0Share the news with your fellow Master Gardeners and start working on those applications! \u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n

Search for Excellence, IMGC 2019<\/a><\/p>\n

Search for Excellence (SFE) is the recognition program of the Extension Master Gardener (EMG) Program. The awards acknowledge exemplary volunteer work throughout the United States, Canada and South Korea.\u00a0 SFE has seven categories in which EMGs can demonstrate \u00a0outstanding contributions to their communities.<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Community Service<\/p>\n

2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Demonstration Garden(s)<\/p>\n

3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Innovative Project(s)<\/p>\n

4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Research (applied scientific methodology)<\/p>\n

5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Special Needs Audiences (senior, disabled audiences or horticultural therapy)<\/p>\n

6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Workshop(s) or Presentation(s)<\/p>\n

7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Youth<\/p>\n

All Extension Master Gardener volunteer projects are significant to their communities, but not all are SFE projects<\/strong>. SFE is designed to recognize outstanding group projects<\/strong> and not an individual <\/strong>who does outstanding work.<\/p>\n

New this year, the application process for the 2019 Search for Excellence Awards is on-line; this includes the application, a form to upload images, and a form for verification of eligibility.<\/p>\n

To apply for SFE, the Master Gardener(s) will:<\/p>\n

1.\u00a0 Read through the information about SFE on the\u00a0website<\/a>
\n2.\u00a0 Gather the information needed for the application
\n3.\u00a0 Complete the application and electronically\u00a0submit it<\/a>
\n4. \u00a0Upload up to 6 images to support your project<\/a>
\n5. \u00a0Forward the emails sent by the system (copy of the application and images) to the MG Advisor\/Coordinator and request that, within 7 days, they complete the\u00a0verification form<\/a><\/p>\n

The application is not complete until the verification form has been submitted by the MG Advisor\/Coordinator. \u00a0The verification letter must be received within 7 days of the application submission.<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0The applicant will be notified once the application, images, and verification form are received.<\/p>\n

If issues with the on-line submission process are encountered, the applicant should contact Diane Nolan using the on-line contact form or email her directly at dnolan2@unl.edu<\/a> for assistance.<\/p>\n
