Resources for GA MGEVs

Spots are filling up, but there is still time to register for the last online offering of the Georgia First Detector Program as an online, self-paced Advanced Training course for GA MGEVs.

First offered in Fall 2020 (learn all about the training in this previous blog post), this popular training will be offered twice in 2021, in spring (February 20 – April 10, 2021) and in fall (September 11 – October 23, 2021). The First Detector training focuses on the identification and reporting of invasive species. Participants need to be able to access course lecture videos and assignments via the online classroom site. Additionally, the mapping activity utilizes a free smartphone app, EDDMapS. This training is 100% online and course materials can be completed at a time of personal convenience each week. New materials will be released weekly on Saturday mornings. Any questions about the material are sent to instructors by Thursday of each week, and answers are posted the following Thursday. Activities are due on Fridays. To earn an Advanced Training certificate, individuals need to complete the coursework in the 6-week time frame of the course, including 6 questionnaires and 6 quizzes. This year, a live Q&A session with instructors will be offered in the last week.

  • Course Dates (fall session): September 11 – October 23, 2021
  • Deadline to register: August 13, 2021

Please note: This is the same Advanced Training opportunity that was first offered in Fall 2020, created from the material of in-person programming. If you have previously participated in an in-person First Detector program or one of the 2020 or 2021 online sessions, you will not receive duplicate AT credit. We just wanted to offer the course one more time for anyone who has not yet had a chance to participate.
