Resources for GA MGEVs

April is an exciting month in the garden AND for the Georgia Master Gardener Extension Volunteer Program! Every April, we look forward to National Volunteer Appreciation Week (VAW) as a time to thank YOU for your commitment to Georgia communities. This year, VAW falls on April 19-25, 2020, while we are still staying home to stay well. We had some exciting things planned, including garden visits to Smith-Gilbert Gardens in Kennesaw, that we’ve had to postpone. Even though our in-person celebrations and recognition events have been canceled, WE’RE STILL GOING TO CELEBRATE YOU!

We are thankful that technology gives us an opportunity to recognize the wonderful people behind Extension Master Gardener projects and programming. Following the April 9 Thoughtful Thursday session, we are hosting a Zoom party! We’ll take time to connect with volunteers all around the state. We hope you will hang out online for a few more minutes and share your stories. Socialize virtually and help us get to know you. Use your camera and/or microphone to share. Tell us about:

  • your MGEV experience
  • why being a volunteer is meaningful to you
  • near and dear projects, people, and plants

Please note that this Zoom session will be recorded. Content shared, including audio, video, and images, is intended for sharing on social media platforms during Volunteer Appreciation Week as we highlight your service.

Please mark your calendar for our Thoughtful Thursday webinar on April 9, 2020, at 2 pm. UGA Extension Specialist, Dr. Elizabeth Little, will give a Disease Update. Following her talk, we invite you to remain gathered online with us through Zoom for something new!
