Temporary Courthouse and County Office Operations:

In the interest of safeguarding the public and County personnel and in light of the current Public Health Sate of Emergency declared by Governor Brian Kemp, the Macon County Board of Commissioners are issuing an edict to limit general public access to the courthouse and all County offices.

Starting Wednesday, March 18th through Friday, April 3rd, the Macon County Extension Office will be closed to the public. At this time, we will maintain regular business hours but our door will be locked to limit public access. We will be available to answer all questions, phone calls and emails. As of right now, our diagnostic labs and soil lab are open for business as usual.

If you would like to drop off samples, please call ahead to let us know you are coming. All of your information will be gathered by phone and you will be notified of the payment cost. There will a drop box set up outside where you can leave your samples and payment. Please make sure that all samples have a name on them. We will only be accepting checks and money orders at this time. Payments are to be made payable to Macon County Extension / 4-H.

Offices for the Probate & Magistrate Courts, Superior Court Clerk and Commissioners will also be limited during this time. Visitation to the Jail under the Sheriff will also be suspended. All offices will have telephone contact available. The modified operation will be in place from Wednesday, March 18th through Friday, April 3rd.

I know that this is a stressful time for everyone and planting season is right around the corner. As always, I am still available to assist with planting decisions, variety selection, herbicide decisions and any other needs from our agricultural community. Our office number is 478-472-7588 and our email address is uge2189@uga.edu. I apologize for any inconvenience and thank you for understanding our changes.

If you have any questions, give us a call or contact your local County Agent.
