This consists of creating a project portfolio that includes main project work, research/sharing and helping, leadership and community service activities, and other 4-H related activities that have been completed by the 4-H’er in the 2025 program year. After their portfolio submission, they write a speech and create posters or PowerPoint slides as visual aids for their presentation. Some project categories have different requirements that don’t follow the traditional presentation route such as Performing Arts, Food Labs, Fashion Revue, and Public Speaking. Students competing in these categories don’t have standardized presentations, but instead perform, play an instrument, sing, cook, present clothing or simply just give a speech. Along with competing in their project category over the weekend, they also had the opportunity to vote for the new District Board of Directors, meet new friends, and learn more about the amazing opportunities that 4-H provides students district and statewide.

Long County 4-H’ers and leaders stand in front of Rock Eagle symbol outside of Dining Hall.

Our Long County community is truly so proud of all 9 competitors for doing such an amazing job on their presentations in their respective categories:

Aubrey Connell: 2nd place in Crafts
Taylon Crawford: 3rd place in Safety
Theo Eke: 2nd place in Photo & Video
Trinity Holston: 4th in Human Development
Eutimgi Jones: 7th place in Public Speaking
Brandon Kauffman: 3rd place in Computer Info. It takes a lot of time and effort to prepare these speeches and have the confidence to deliver in a room full of strangers which speaks volumes to their work ethic and character,” says Shelby Dyal, 4-H Agent. The Long County 4-H Program would also like to recognize Mr. Bobby Staudt for his leadership in serving over the weekend as a Volunteer Leader.

Project Achievement Workshop Days have started for our younger 4-H’ers in grades 4th-6th. Their District competition will be on Saturday, March 28th in Bacon County. We have also started sign up for summer camps with most of them being on waitlists now. We still encourage you to sign-up if interested and only require a deposit if you’re able to be assigned to registered rather than waitlisted.

Follow along with Long County 4-H as they offer many other exciting and fun opportunities for all youth.
