The rain has stopped, the sun has come out, and Long County 4-H is still working hard to serve students in our community! After attending many meetings, conferences, and trainings lately, Georgia 4-H and UGA Extension are encouraging us to remain optimistic in our challenges. My hope is to continue sharing opportunities through the diverse experiences 4-H offers to help youth develop social responsibility, empower them to live an authentic life, and grow as leaders who can make the best better, regardless of circumstances. With that being said, Long County 4-H is looking to have a productive month ahead. Here are some events and contests that your student may be interested in participating in:
- Tuesday, March 2nd @ 4:30pm: Jr./Sr. Club Meeting will be held at the Long County Extension Office. We will be doing a ‘True Colors’ test, discussing how your color helps or hurts you when working with others and be customizing a new 2021 Long County 4-H t-shirt. This club meeting is open to any 7th-12th grade public school student.
- Monday, March 8th @ 3pm: Our March Homeschool Club Meeting will consist of learning all about ‘My Plate’. Expect puzzles, BINGO, quizzes, and more! Check out our Facebook page to pre-register your students. This meeting is for any homeschool student, K-12.
- Thursday, March 18th at 4:30pm: Long County 4-H’s Community Service Club will meet at the Long County Ext. Office to receive a trash bag and a safety vest. We will be walking to Highway 57 across from the Courthouse to clean up the Highway. Come join us to get outside for the afternoon and do your part in helping keep the community clean!
- Friday, March 19th at 5pm: The deadline for any Cloverleafs (4th-6th Grade) wanting to participate in our Virtual District Project Achievement event must submit their video (or a link of that video) to Shelby at the Long County Ext. Office before 5pm on Friday, March 19th. If you have any questions about this project, call, email, or message us. We’d be happy to speak with you about it!
Other events and contests into Zoom Into Science presentations, Give Wildlife a Chance Poster Contest and the Beekeeping Essay Contest. If your student(s) are interested in any of these, please contact the Long County Extension Office. We would be happy to talk with you! We are looking forward to a great new month.
