A website from UGA Cooperative Extension

With a positive outlook on the new year, it’s time to kickstart our 4-H program! We have many events, club meetings, and activities for Long County students to attend in the coming weeks and months. As this is all new to me as well, I’ve been eager to finally see a start in our programming and there’s no better time than the start of a new year to hold an Outdoor Meet & Greet.  This will be a great way for new, as well as experienced 4-H members to meet each other and exchange mutual interests. We will also have our Extension Staff there as hosts to serve in any capacity we can and to answer questions parents and students may have. Our Outdoor Meet & Greet will be held at the Long County Extension Office on Thursday, Jan. 28th from 4-6pm. Our office is located at 81 West Academy Street which is behind the Mary Ann Odum Government Annex.

With 4-H being a unit of the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences Extension Service, we must abide by all of the UGA COVID-19’s Guidelines. At this time, county face-to-face programming is allowed under 4 conditions: 1) We must have 25 or fewer participants 2) It is a single county event 3) No food provided and 4) We follow all the current COVID safety protocols. We plan on having outdoor and indoor space to spread families out. There will also be an enter and exit through our trailer module to ensure social distancing. Face masks are required for when you are indoors. We will have a booth set up outside to check-in at, handouts, sign ups, forms, etc. We hope that you bring your questions as well as maybe some ideas you would like to see our program navigate through or what your club interests are. You can stay for 10 minutes, an hour, or however long you’d like! We would just love for you to stop by and check things outs.

We have a couple of other contests and dates we’d like for you to keep in mind along with our Outdoor Meet & Greet next week.
