Are you interested in starting a hive or two of honey bees? The Lanier County Extension Office is currently planning a series of beginner beekeeping courses in 2021, not restricted to Lanier County residents. The series includes a hive assembly class, bee biology, how to install a package of bees, common pests and diseases, smoker lighting practice, honey harvest, and more. Meetings will be held approximately one Saturday per month.
Classes will be held from 9am-12pm on February 27th, March 20th, April 17th, May 22nd, July 24th, and August 28th.
The cost is $20 for the entire series of six classes. If you paid for the classes in 2020, you do NOT have to pay the fee this year. Payment must be received via mail or in-person with cash or check at least the day before the first class you choose to attend. COVID-19 precautions will be in place to ensure the health and safety of our students of all ages.
