Agriculture and Natural Resources Agent, Luke Crosson, teaches 4-H’ers about planting for the fall in the community gardens at the Calhoun County Extension Office.
The Arlington Community Gardens are managed by Mr. Floyd Mitchell and are healthy and beautiful! The gardens are located behind the Boys and Girls Club and has peppers, okra, squash, tomatoes, and much more! To volunteer to work in the garden, contact Mr. Mitchell at (229) 886-821.
New produce has been planted in the community gardens around Calhoun County! Calhoun County Extension Staff, volunteers, and Calhoun County 4-H’ers all came out to help refresh the raised beds. Produce that was planted include squash, zucchini, several varieties of tomatoes, jalapenos, cucumber, carrots, beets, radishes, cilantro, potatoes, onions, eggplant, bell peppers, herbs, and flowers! Six raised garden beds have been installed at the Calhoun County Extension office in Morgan, Georgia. The beds will be planted with various vegetables this fall! The garden will serve as a teaching area for community members to learn how to create a community garden at their establishment. The garden includes a drip irrigation system, fully equipped head house, and covered teaching area.
