Recently Georgia Farm Monitor, the weekly TV program for Georgia agriculture, filmed our work at the Center for Innovative Teaching (CFIT) in Winder, Georgia. CFIT, which is part of the Barrow County School System, describes their campus in the following from their website:
Within the CFIT campus, students, teachers, and other stakeholders have access to the school system’s only Black Box Theater and Dance Studio. Other innovative spaces at the center include a 1000 square foot makerspace, a robotics lab, dedicated theater and visual arts classrooms, several large meeting spaces, and coming soon, a USDA-sponsored learning garden.
Grow It Know It, Barrow County School System, and the UGA Extension Office in Barrow County have been cooperating on the aforementioned USDA grant to encourage innovative teaching methods using school gardens. Watch the video from Georgia Farm Monitor to learn more about what’s going on. As they put it in Barrow, “Be Bold!”

BTW. The wigs in this video were worn by our coordinator Andie Bisceglia and Grow It Know It VISTA Joshua Truitt as they put on an interactive skit about how soil is made, with student participation of course! Don’t you wish you had gone to school at CFIT?!
