On Monday, December 12th, Clarke students participated in sustainability-minded lesson plans in each class. Topics such as how to lower our consumption and waste producing habits, how composting benefits the earth and our community, and how sustainability applies to our relationships and academic life were discussed in all three grade levels.
The poster above was created by I.B. Specialist Seri Beall and AmeriCorps VISTA Julia Calder. Ms. Beall coordinated the day’s lessons and activities.
One student was asked what they took away from the lessons and their response was “…a woman only created a small bag of trash in two years! She would bring reusable containers to grocery stores and restaurants. We could do more by using less styrofoam and plastic containers.”
Good on you, Clarke Middle School! Let’s keep the conversation going!
