Thanks again to all y’all who came out in support of our Pollinator lunch yesterday constructed by the Kitchen Garden Corps and guided by Athena Bee herself, aka Brendan Nordgren, our Americorps VISTA at W.R. Coile Middle School!
This coming week, we are super excited to have the Kitchen Garden Corps lunch be directed by Hope Zimmerman, the family and consumer science teacher at Clarke Middle School. Last summer Hope and the Kitchen Garden Corps took us on a trip to Korea as we served a delicious Korean meal inspired by Hope’s Korean heritage. Next week’s meal (Thursday, June 30) will be a considerably above average (i.e. incredibly awesome) meal!
Hope’s menu is still under construction, but this is what it looks like right now.
Korean Potato Pancake
Google the main dish for your own edification, but for a just a little bit of know know now…the main course, bibimbap literally means “mixed rice.” Bibim (비빔) translates as “mixed,” and bap (밥) means “cooked rice.” Before eating it you’re supposed to mix the rice and all the vegetables together.
As with this past week’s meal, all Kitchen Garden Corps lunches from here on out this summer will be served at the Athens Community Career Academy located at 440 Dearing Extension, Building 1. In other words, look behind Cook Out on West Broad Street. Our lunch service runs from 12 to 1. We will not hold a lunch on Thursday, July 7. Our last meal will be Thursday, July 28.
Please contact Wick Prichard (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Tad MacMillan (email@example.com) to make reservations!
