{"id":845,"date":"2020-08-05T13:29:00","date_gmt":"2020-08-05T17:29:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/gordongrown\/?p=845"},"modified":"2020-08-02T14:46:47","modified_gmt":"2020-08-02T18:46:47","slug":"2020-georgia-4-h-food-showcase","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/site.extension.uga.edu\/gordongrown\/2020\/08\/2020-georgia-4-h-food-showcase\/","title":{"rendered":"2020 Georgia 4-H Food Showcase"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The Georgia 4-H Food Showcase will be held on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Rock Eagle 4-H Center, conditions permitting.&nbsp; The Food Showcase encompasses four contests:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><em>4-H Food Challenge<\/em> &#8211; for qualifying teams of 3-5 members (<strong>must qualify by AUGUST 19<\/strong>) &#8211; challenges teams of 4-H members to plan a dish using only a predetermined set of ingredients. From these ingredients, team members must plan the preparation of a dish, then make a presentation about it for judges.<ul><li>Junior division: 6th-8th grade<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Senior division: 9th-12th grade<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>4-H Egg Preparation Demonstration Contest<ul><li>Individual contest<\/li><li>Junior division: 7th-8th grade<\/li><li>Senior division: 9th-12th grade<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>4-H Chicken Barbecue Contest<ul><li>Individual contest<\/li><li>Senior division only<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>4-H Turkey Barbecue Contest<ul><li>Individual contest<\/li><li>Senior division only<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>All of these exciting events qualify for Master 4-H status for senior teams and individuals that win first place at the Food Showcase and will be recognized at State 4-H Congress next July.&nbsp; In addition, winners of the egg preparation and barbecue contests get to represent Georgia 4-H at the National Contest held during the National 4-H Poultry and Egg Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.&nbsp; Food Challenge 1st place winners get to represent Georgia 4-H at the National 4-H Food Challenge in Dallas, Texas and 2nd place winners are invited to represent Georgia at the Great American Seafood Cook-Off in Louisiana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please see the 4-H website for more details:&nbsp; <a href=\"https:\/\/georgia4h.org\/programs\/focus-areas\/healthy-living\/foods-and-nutrition\/food-and-nutrition-competitions\/foodshowcase\/\">https:\/\/georgia4h.org\/programs\/focus-areas\/healthy-living\/foods-and-nutrition\/food-and-nutrition-competitions\/foodshowcase\/<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I would love to have lots of youth competing at the 4-H Food Showcase this year, so please contact me with any questions or to register!
