Competition for the Dean&#8217;s Awards is open to all 9th-12th grade (Senior) 4-H members, regardless of their prior participation or winning status in other projects. \u00a0Dean&#8217;s Awards participants will submit a cumulative portfolio that spans their entire 4-H career, and finalists will participate in an interview session at State Council.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>An award will be presented in each of the following five areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Agricultural and Environmental Sciences<\/li>\n<li>Citizenship<\/li>\n<li>William &#8220;Bill&#8221; Edwards 4-H Dean&#8217;s Award for Communications and the Arts<\/li>\n<li>Family and Consumer Sciences<\/li>\n<li>James Harris 4-H Dean&#8217;s Award for Leadership<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>First place winners in each category will receive Master 4 H&#8217;er Status, a $500 scholarship, and recognition on 4-H Day at the Capitol.\u00a0 First, second, and third place in each area will receive a medallion to commemorate their achievement.<\/p>\n<p>To participate in this competition, 4-H&#8217;ers must submit a portfolio that contains a one-page cover letter, two pages of accomplishments, two pages of supporting material, and two letters of reference by <strong>Friday, May 25<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0Portfolios will be judged, and the top 5 high-scoring individuals from each of the five Dean&#8217;s Awards projects will proceed to interviews as finalists. Announcement of finalists selected to interview, based on high portfolio scores, will occur on Monday, June 11, 2018.
