As you know, it is hard to anticipate plans for in-person, overnight events at the moment. However, as of right now, plans are currently in place to host this year’s Junior Conference in conjunction with the Weekend in the Classic City event at Rock Eagle 4-H Center in November (November 7-8 for Junior Conference and November 6-8 for WICC). While registration for these events will be coming soon, we wanted to hold the selection of Junior Conference teen leaders in advance of opening registration as selected teen leaders will be unable to be a participant in WICC and registration for WICC will be limited on a first-come, first-serve basis.
Certified teen leaders in the 9th-12th grade are encouraged to apply for various leadership roles during Junior Conference. Not only are they the key to help make Junior Conference a success, but they are also an excellent portfolio opportunity for high school-aged 4-H’ers. Teen leaders must commit to the entire weekend because they will have other duties in addition to their selected role; there are no exceptions to this. Selected teens must be certified teen leaders. No other teen leaders are allowed to attend Junior Conference.
Teen leader registration will be $40.00/participant and includes Saturday lunch and dinner, lodging, and Sunday breakfast.
Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, teen leaders may only apply for one teen leader opportunity. Additionally, with scheduling conflicts with rehearsals, Clovers & Co. members are not able to apply.
This year’s teen leader opportunities include:
- Workshop Instructor Application:
- Based on their application, selected teen leaders will teach a prepared workshop on one of the three Georgia 4-H content areas: Agriculture & STEM, Civic Engagement, or Healthy Living. Workshop instructors will teach their assigned lesson four times throughout the weekend.

- Community Service Leader Application:
- Selected community service projects should be easy to do in a short time frame and provide something for a group in need. Examples are letters to military families or 4-H donors, decorations for a senior center, caps for cancer patients, etc. Selected teen leaders must supply materials and may submit receipts to Jeffrey Burke for reimbursement of supplies up to $25.00.
Although all applications must be submitted through the Qualtrics link below, a fillable PDF worksheet has been made to assist in preparing 4-H’ers to submit information online.
The teen leader application itself can be found at www.tinyurl.com/JuniorConference20TeenLeader
The teen leader application will close at 5:00 PM on Wednesday, August 26. I know this is a quick turnaround, but like mentioned before, we want 4-H’ers to know their availability to attend Junior Conference before registration for WICC becomes available.
If you have questions, please let Mrs. Allie know.
