A website from UGA Cooperative Extension

I hope you each are doing well in this ever-evolving COVID-19 situation. I know we are experiencing disruptions to our usual way of doing things, and that can cause both challenges and opportunities for each of us. You and your family may be excited for or disappointed about not returning to school for the year, and some of you may just be missing your usual routine and people (and 4-H!). Please know that I and the rest of the Gordon County Extension/4-H Office are here for you and your family, and we miss you all!

What can Extension/4-H do to help you or our community? Please reply to this newsletter email and let me know of any suggestions you have for ways we can serve our families and our community at this time.

I sent an email to our volunteers with the following information, but I wanted to be sure everyone had this updated information as well.

  • 4-H CALENDAR – Many have questions about what will happen with 4-H events. As this is an evolving situation, there is not a good answer at this time, but currently all state/district events are cancelled/postponed through May 8. Local programs are cancelled/postponed at least through the end of the school year. We will be in touch with each of our clubs/teams as we receive information. Please let us know if you have any questions. You can also go to the Georgia 4-H calendar to see which events have been postponed and which have been cancelled: https://georgia4h.org/calendar/
  • RESOURCES – I wanted to provide you with a UGA Extension COVID-19 resource website that contains useful information for Georgia residents, particularly about food safety, sanitation, finances, health, youth activities, etc. The link is https://extension.uga.edu/emergencies
  • CONTACT US – The Gordon County Extension/4-H Office is closed to the public following the March 18 announcement from the county government. The Gordon County Extension/4-H Office staff are still working, so you can contact us by phone or email as needed.

We are thinking about you and each of your families in this time, and we pray you all stay healthy and safe. We look forward to seeing you all again soon!
