State 4-H Council is the constitutional meeting of the Georgia 4-H Council, where 4-H’ers vote on proposed amendments to the 4-H Constitution and elect the Georgia 4-H State Officers. Registration for State 4-H Council is open to any current 8th-12th grade 4-H members in the 2017-2018 school year. This annual meeting hosts multiple events and competitions throughout the weekend, such as the Iron Clover competition, Dean’s Award, Citizenship Ceremony, interactive workshops, teen leader training, live entertainment, and more!
To register, the cost is $50. Please complete this registration form and submit with your payment to the Gordon County Extension/4-H office by May 30 for this early bird price. From May 31-June 13, you will pay $55.
At State 4-H Council there will be a community service and share fair. During this time, 4-H’ers will have the opportunity to exhibit a booth on a topic of their choosing or to lead a community service activity for participants during State 4-H Council. Community service projects should be easy to do in a short time frame and provide
something for a group in need. Examples are letters to military families or 4-H donors, decorations for a
senior center, caps for cancer patients, etc. Selected service leaders must supply materials.

Exhibitor applications as well as community service leader applications are due online by 11:59 PM on Wednesday, May 30.
The annual Iron Clover Competition is held at State 4-H Council. This event takes its name from the iron statue of the 4-H emblem currently standing in front of Sutton Hall at Rock Eagle and is designed to commemorate the statewide competition. During the competition, each district competes against one another in fun competitions, ranging from softball to musical chairs. At the end of the weekend, the district team that has been awarded the most Iron Clover points has won the title of “Iron Clover Champion” for their district. Sign-ups for the Iron Clover competition will take place at State 4-H Council during Saturday morning district assemblies prior to the Iron Clover Rally. Events include:

Any 4-H’ers in the 9th – 11th grade in the 2017-2018 school year interested in submitting an application for
the Georgia 4-H Board of Directors (State Officers) should complete the State 4-H Officer Nomination

Held during the Sunday morning closing assembly, the annual Citizenship Ceremony leads 4-H members in a pledge to become engaged Americans, to vote, and to make a difference in their communities. The Citizenship Ceremony will include all high school seniors, 4-H’ers that are age 18, and 4-H’ers that will be age 18 before next year’s State 4-H Council. In addition, 4-H’ers will have the opportunity to audition for several roles during the Citizenship Ceremony, including serving as a speaker or in the ceremony chorus.
Dean’s Awards are offered in five major project areas: Ag and STEM, Citizenship, Communications and the
Arts, Family and Consumer Sciences, and Leadership. Competition participants will submit a cumulative
portfolio that spans their entire 4-H career for judges to score. In each of the Dean’s Awards’ five project areas, individuals with the five highest portfolio scores will be selected as finalists and asked to participate in interviews at State 4-H Council starting at 2:00 PM. Volunteer leaders are invited to attend the Volunteer Leaders Breakfast on Saturday morning in the
Clover Room. Full-time State 4-H Council volunteer cost is an additional $3.00. If the volunteer is
not a full-time participant of State 4-H Council, the cost per volunteer is $13.50. It will be held Saturday, June 23, from 7:45-9:00 AM in the Clover Room of the Rock Eagle Dining Hall.
