A website from UGA Cooperative Extension

This summer, UGA’s J.W. Fanning Institute for Leadership Development, in partnership with Chick-fil-A® and The Same House, is hosting a statewide youth leadership summit in Athens, GA.  The YOUTH LEAD GEORGIA SUMMIT will take place July 18-19, 2024, and will hopefully feature at least one rising 11th or 12th grade student from each of our state’s 159 counties.  It’s an incredible opportunity for youth to hone their leadership skills, build relationships with peers, experience the UGA campus, and discuss issues facings Georgia’s youth!  Plus, thanks to the generosity of Chick-fil-A®, there is no cost to students participating in the summit.  An opportunity like this shouldn’t be missed, which is why we are collaborating with Georgia 4-H to identify youth participants for the summit!!

Each county 4-H program is allowed to nominate one youth for this program; please see the flyer below. If you are a rising 11th or 12th grader (current 10th or 11th grade student) interested in participating in this opportunity, please email Mrs. Allie at allie.griner@uga.edu by Friday, May 17. Depending on how many are interested in the opportunity, we will have a selection process.

Important Points to Note:

  • There is no cost for youth selected to attend thanks to support from Chick-Fil-A.
  • You must commit to attend the whole event from July 18-19
  • Transportation is on your own
  • Deadline to express interest to Mrs. Allie is Friday, May 17
