LifeSmarts, established in 1994, is a program of the National Consumers League, the nation’s pioneering consumer organization. LifeSmarts, the ultimate consumer challenge, is an educational opportunity for students in 6th-12th grade. This competition prepares students to enter the real world as smart adult consumers. Participants focus on five key topic areas: consumer rights and responsibilities, the environment, health and safety, personal finance, and technology & workforce preparation.

The challenge is open to Junior Varsity (grades 6-8) and Varsity (grades 9-12) LifeSmarts teams. Teams are made up of four to five students. Teams will complete online quizzes to qualify for state competition, and the top four teams in each division will attend the state contest in February. 4-H Volunteer Leader Carrie Parish will be the coach and the first team meeting will be this Friday, October 7 at 4:30 p.m. at the 4-H office. The practice schedule will be determined based on attending team members’ schedules.
If you are interested in participating in the LifeSmarts team this year, please complete the short registration form at this link by noon on October 7.
