To offer a fun, non-competitive engineering design challenge to youth this summer, the Georgia 4-H Mission Make-It Committee is excited to share about the 2022 Georgia 4-H Building Block Contest! 4-H youth in grades 6-8 for the 2022-23 school year are eligible to participate in the contest.
Using the theme of “Rooted in Agriculture” youth are challenged to use Legos or other small building blocks to create things related to agriculture – animals, commodities, tools, machinery, and more. Help us celebrate that 4-H is Rooted in Agriculture!

Step One: Contact Mrs. Allie
Email Mrs. Allie at allie.griner@uga.edu and let her know you want to participate in the contest. She will get you registered in the scoring system and give you a special code to upload your video to FlipGrid.
Step Two: Build Your Creation
Use Legos or similar building blocks to build something related to agriculture! This creation could be something living (like an animal, plant, etc.) or non-living (like a barn, tractor, etc.). You will build one creation. There is no size limit but refer to the scoring rubric for more information. Adhesives, glues, etc. may not be used.
Step Three: Share Your Creation by August 12
Create a 2-minute video telling others about your creation. In your video, you will want to showcase your creation (all sides, top, etc.) and share about it. You will also need to pick up your creation to show its structural integrity. In your video, you will want to state your name, county, and explain your creation and its connection to the theme. Upload the video to FlipGrid using the information from your 4-H leader. Videos must by uploaded by August 12, 2022. After uploading your video, you will complete a short evaluation and complete a virtual jigsaw puzzle telling you more information about an upcoming 4-H
event … Mission Make-It!
Step Four: View Videos of Others
Using the FlipGrid code, you can view other videos posted by 4-H’ers! Check out their awesome creations!

Not required, but you may be interested in attending Mission Make-It on August 20, 2022, at Rock Eagle 4-H Center. During this non-competitive event, middle school youth with together to complete engineering challenges. See the 4-H newsletter for more information.
