The Georgia 4-H Food Challenge is a fun and educational event in which teams of youth work together to create a dish using a list of secret ingredients, similar to the TV show “Chopped.” Along with their dish, they also prepare and present nutrition, food preparation, and food safety information. Similar to last year, virtual district qualifying competitions will be held to determine which teams will compete at the state Food Challenge competition. The Food Challenge District Video Competition is designed to help teams demonstrate many of the skills teams practice for a live Food Challenge competition at the state contest.

Teams will receive a list of secret ingredients, a list of pantry ingredients, and plan a creative, healthy dish based on those ingredients. Once the dish is planned, the team or adult leader can purchase the ingredients needed for the dish, and the team can prepare it. The team will submit a photo of the dish and may feature the dish in their filmed presentation.

You can watch an overview video of the contest details here: https://kaltura.uga.edu/media/t/1_nh3aaf49

To register for this contest, students must be rising 6th-12th graders. Click here to email Mrs. Allie if you are interested in participating by July 31. Once we have a list of interested participants, we will send out contest details and set up a team meeting to create teams and work to create our district qualifier videos.
