Gordon County 4-H is assisting with the local Arbor Day free tree giveaway at the Calhoun Recreation Gym. We are assisting on Friday, February 16 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 noon to help with sorting, labeling, and set up, and we need youth and adult volunteers to assist with this program. There is an additional opportunity to volunteer on Saturday, February 17. Gordon County 4-H will not be there that day, as we will be participating in the Northwest Area Cloverleaf Project Achievement in Rome, but any family that wishes to volunteer with Arbor on Saturday, February 17 is welcome to do so from 8:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The actual event will open at 8:30 on Saturday and give away trees until 12:00 ( or until trees are gone) and will have experts from GA Forestry along with drawings for compost bins.
