It is once again time for the Georgia 4-H Pumpkin Growing Contest sponsored by the Georgia Fruits and Vegetables Growers Association. This contest offers 4-H’ers a chance to learn skills of farm management, along with initiative, self-reliance, and preparation skills. We are happy to announce this competition is now open, and 4-H’ers are encouraged to begin preparing to grow their largest pumpkins. The Pumpkin Growing Contest webpage has been updated and can be accessed at georgia4h.org/pumpkin.
This contest is open to all 4-H’ers, kindergarten through 12th grade, and only one submission is allowed per 4-H’er. All entries must be submitted and weighed by Friday, October 20, 2023. Please contact Mrs. Allie at allie.griner@uga.edu if you have a pumpkin you wish to submit for the contest. This year’s results will be announced on Thursday, October 26, 2023, in celebration of National Pumpkin Day.
Cash prizes will be awarded to participants as follows:
