Beginning in February, Gordon County Extension/4-H and Gordon County Fire Department are partnering to host a Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training primarily for teens who are homeschooled, though others are welcome to join.

The Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) program educates volunteers about disaster preparedness for the hazards that may occur where they live. CERT trains volunteers in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, disaster medical operations, and others.

The training is open to youth 6th grade and up as well as adults. Classes will be held at the Gordon County Fire Department from 1:30-5:00 p.m. on the following dates:

  • February 14
  • March 21
  • April 18
  • May 2
  • May 16

Please register for the training by February 10 at this link: https://ugeorgia.ca1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_9TrUqzX9sULg2Gi
