Citizenship Washington Focus is 4-H’s premier citizenship and leadership experience for high school youth. Delegations from across the country attend this six-day program at the Hyatt Regency Bethesda, located just outside Washington, D.C. The program aims to enrich young people’s lives by broadening their appreciation and respect for themselves and others in the world. Participants attend workshops, committees, field trips, and social events, giving them hands-on opportunities to learn and grow.
Eligible Participants – CWF is open to all Georgia 4-H members who are rising 9th through 12th graders at the time of the trip.
Registration Deadline – March 4, 2022 – Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis. Georgia has limited openings reserved for the CWF program. The below fillable registration form is due to Jason Estep by email at jason.estep@uga.edu by the end of day on March 4. To ensure your participation in CWF, register ASAP!
Cost – The cost will be approximately $1,900* per person. The standard registration package for CWF, alone, is $1,400 per person, and that doesn’t include transportation to and from DC, outing costs, and other expenses. Transportation costs will be determined by the number of participants and will be announced after the final delegation size is determined. *NOTE: The above costs do not cover meals on the way to Washington D.C. and back. There is also one day when participants must pay for their own lunch. Please plan for an additional $120 to cover these meals.
Payment – Make checks payable to the “Georgia 4-H Foundation.” A down payment of $500 is due on March 11, 2022 — one week after close of registration. The remaining balance is due by May 13.
After the down payment, you could just wait to submit one additional large payment to cover the remaining balance (due May 13th). However, many people find it more manageable to spread payments out over a set schedule. Below is our recommended payment schedule (notice the payment dates correspond to the second Friday of each month):
- March 11 $500
- April 8 $500
- May 13 remaining balance due (we will know this amount after travel costs have been determined)
Again, checks are payable to “Georgia 4-H Foundation.” Please mail payments to the address below or take it to your County Extension Office for them to forward:

Transportation – 4-H will provide transportation to and from Washington, D.C., and during the week of CWF. Specific details on the transportation to/from Washington, D.C. will be provided at a later date. Participants must provide their own transportation to the designated pick-up and drop-off location in Georgia (most likely Hartsfield Airport).
