SPECIAL NOTE: We have free Dill’s Atlantic Giant pumpkin seeds at the Gordon County 4-H Office for anyone who wants to come get some and plant their own pumpkin. See below for details on the contest and contact Ms. Allie at allie723@uga.edu if you want to get pumpkin seeds from the 4-H office.

It is once again time for the Georgia 4-H Pumpkin Growing Contest sponsored by the Georgia Fruits and Vegetables Growers Association.  This contest offers 4-H’ers a chance to learn skills of farm management, along with initiative, self-reliance, and preparation skills.  We are happy to announce this competition is now open, and 4-H’ers are encouraged to begin preparing to grow their largest pumpkins.  The Pumpkin Growing Contest webpage has been updated and can be accessed at georgia4h.org/pumpkin.

This contest is open to all 4-H’ers, kindergarten through 12th grade, and only one submission is allowed per 4-H’er.  All entries must be submitted by Wednesday, October 21, 2020.  This year’s results will be announced on Monday, October 26, 2020, in celebration of National Pumpkin Day.

Cash prizes will be awarded to participants as follows:

1st Place $100.002nd Place $50.003rd Place $25.00

These prizes will be sent by the State 4-H Office.  Prize money is graciously sponsored by the Georgia Fruit and Vegetable Growers Association. Gordon County 4-H will also recognize the top 3 pumpkins grown in Gordon County.
