Presented by the Georgia Canine Coalition, Inc. and in conjunction with the Georgia Department of Agriculture, the AKC Farm Dog Certified (FDC) Test is open to all dogs at least 9 months of age that are individually registered with the AKC, recorded in the FSS program, dogs with PAL numbers, or neutered dogs enrolled in the AKC Canine Partners program. Females in season may not participate. Dogs with physical challenges (including amputees) are eligible to enter provided, in the opinion of the judge, they display no signs of physical discomfort and can safely complete the entire course.
Pre-entries close on Monday, October 7, 2019 at 6:00pm After this time, entries cannot be accepted, cancelled or substituted except as provided for in Chapter 14, Section 6 of the Dog Show Rules and Chapter 3, Section 1 of the Regulations for Herding Tests and Trials. Date of event is Sunday, October 13, 2019 at the Georgia National Fair.
FDC entries limited to 50 runs per event. Day of entries will be accepted, if maximum limit is not reached at closing.
The FDC consists of 12 exercises the dog must pass twice, so two tests, in order to receive a certificate stating the Dog is Farm Dog Certified.
The normal cost of the tests is $40 per test pre-entry and $45 per test day of test entries. Costs have been reduced to $20 per test pre-entry and $25 per test day of test entries. As it takes two tests to pass, two tests will be done that day to allow dogs and handlers the opportunity of achieving a Farm Dog Certification.

Since the dogs need to be registered with AKC to enter these tests, the AKC will register the dogs belonging to members of 4-H and FFA for free in the AKC Canine Partners program, this program is for dogs that are mixed breeds or dogs that cannot be registered in the AKC Breed registry. If a young person knows that they own a breed of dog, but do not have papers, we can help them register in the PAL program for free also.
